INTRODUCTION
Goal of assessment and evaluation department is to contribute to producing knowledge through theoretical analyses and applied analyses in assessment and evaluation. The department addresses educational problems of the school, proposes solutions and leads the school community for determining policies, as well as collaborating with academic staff, students, parents and other shareholders to share information.

GOALS OF THE DEPARTMENT
At the beginning of the academic year, assessment and evaluation department assesses prior knowledge of students and reports it. We prepare exam calendar, organize exams; analyze exam results and missing objectives and work on the possible causes and propose solutions.

We also coordinate YGS-LYS and TEOG mock exams, monitor student achievement and report it. We support teachers to prepare reliable and objective assessment tools. We closely monitor teaching-learning process, analyze data and report it. We share all data, statistics and reports in the school network sharing system to inform academic staff, students, parents and other shareholders. We prepare presentations in assessment and evaluation, prepare reports and give seminars, in-service training seminars.

SPECIFIC GOALS OF THE DEPARTMENT
Specific goal of assessment and evaluation department of Darüşşafaka schools is to ensure highest standard in all assessment and evaluation activities of Darüşşafaka schools. To this end, we focus on multidimensional assessment, focusing on formation as well as summation, constructing knowledge, giving students opportunities to perform their highest level skills, assigning them with tasks which they can relate to real-life issues rather than abstract concepts, using clear and explicit instructions, carrying out activities focusing on ongoing improvement, and giving efficient feedback on time at Darüşşafaka schools.

ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION TECHNIQUES
In our department we give feedback in the shortest time possible about how learning happens, which methods work best and which one do not in formative assessment period, and other assessment and evaluation activities and techniques.

We aim to help teachers prepare, apply and assess methods such as anecdotes, discussions, exhibitions, interviews, observations, presentations, self-assessment, portfolios, performance assignments, projects, group and/or peer assessment.

To determine the achievement level of students at the end of a unit or an academic term, we guide teachers to prepare, apply and assess short answer questions, multiple choice questions, matching or long-answer questions, correct-false questions, complete the rest of sentences questions, open-ended questions, concept maps, structured grids, descriptor tree, poster, linkword, drama, question-answer methods.

MONITORING ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF STUDENTS
We monitor student achievement using individual improvement performance graphs from “Assessing and Improving Academic Performance based on Objective Principlesmethod which is unique to our department. Additionally, academic performance of levels, classes and teachers is monitored closely, assessed and reported regularly. 

TOOLS AND PROGRAMS
Computers, printers, optical readers and scanners are used. Assessment and evaluation program is used for multiple-choice questions. Assessment and evaluation website is updated; data is shared in school network sharing system.
