GOALS OF ARTS DEPARTMENT
Goal of arts department is to develop aesthetic senses of students through basic arts education, guide students in their artistic developments contributing to their artistic developments and leading their talents. Arts department of Darüşşafaka Schools aims to ensure that students are talented in different disciplines of arts and they achieve professional or amateur success in branches which interest them.

COURSES
Music Education – Education for Musical Instruments (9-12), Painting (9-12)

SPECIFIC GOALS
In arts department, the curriculum is related to practicing and demonstrating an art. Primarily, students are expected to gain fundamental skills and knowledge; considering their talents we also expect them to achieve success.

Darüşşafaka arts department aims to raise individuals with the following profile: students can play at least one musical instrument, they are interested in one of the disciplines of visual arts, they are interested in performance arts, and they understand arts and artists and they are universally responsive to arts.

METHOD
In arts classes, students are given opportunities to transform their individual artistic activities into group activities. Individual painting, sculpture, oil painting, marbling art, ceramics, exhibitions, band, orchestra, pop orchestra, rhythm-percussion groups and instrumental activities are some of the other artistic activities performed in school.

STUDENT MONITORING AND HOMEWORK CHECK
Practice is what arts is all about. Homework is given to ensure that students keep on practicing. Rubrics and homework check lists help monitor student development and process

RESOURCES
MEB (National Ministry of Education) guidebooks, supplementary resources, methods, books and albums, internet, different musical instruments, visual-plastic arts materials are used.

ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION
We use formative assessment in our department. In every academic term, three grades are given based on rubrics and checklists. Student enthusiasms and their desires to achieve rather than their talents are of paramount importance for us.
